Law 16
Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor.
Law 16 of the 48 Laws of Power is "Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor." This law states that in order to increase your perceived value and influence over others, you should make yourself scarce and cultivate an air of mystery around yourself.
The idea behind this law is that by being constantly present and available, you can become too familiar to others and lose the air of importance and intrigue that makes people respect and admire you. However, by being absent for periods of time and making yourself somewhat inaccessible, you can create a sense of mystique and exclusivity that makes others more interested in you and more willing to follow your lead.
To apply this law, you could try periodically withdrawing from social situations, limiting your availability to certain people or groups, or simply being more selective about who you spend your time with. By doing so, you can increase your perceived value and influence over others, and ultimately gain more respect and honor. However, it's important to use this strategy judiciously and not overdo it, as too much absence can also make people lose interest in you altogether
